IRRATIONAL PI! • When I was 10, I got mad at my mom and decided to live in outer space. I ran to my computer and looked up “how to go to outer space”. I found out that I could go to space, but I would need a rocket. And to land my rocket on the moon, I needed to conduct mathematical operations. For the calculations, I had to know at least 47 digits of pi. What even was pi, though? It wasn’t an ordinary number like 3 or 7. Pi is a weird number: 3.1415926535897932384 … and it goes on forever. Literally! There is no end to the number pi.

GUESS WHERE I AM! • Salaam Atlasians! Your travel best friend Backpack visited an ancient country located on the Great Silk Road between Asia and Europe. The Amu Darya flows through the western part of this country and empties into the Aral Sea. I was fascinated by the beauty of the ancient cities and historical sites. I met my new friend Shuhrat, and he excitedly agreed to show me his beautiful country.
